Mclean Organic Foods Inc is proud to offer Canadians an affordable deli line made from meat that was produced without growth hormones or the over-use of antibiotics, and from farms that meet our animal welfare criteria. These products are sold under our new CLEAN & LEAN FOODS label.
This product line was inspired by the increasing demand for foods that are clean - free of common allergens and food additives. We also developed this line because of growing food prices and the concern that not all Canadian families can afford to always buy 'organic'.
As awareness of MCLEAN CLEAN & LEAN FOODS grows, we increase opportunities and incentives for farms to adopt more natural and sustainable farming practices. As more consumers make the switch to natural and organic, more farms respond to the market demand and change their farming practices. The end result is that collectively consumers and farmers can send strong messages to government that it's time for changes in Canada's food industry, from farm to plant to store. But the changes start with the food we are putting on our tables.
Today, many farmers are overusing antibiotics rendering the drugs useless in the event of any serious virus. Antibiotics should only be administered when illness is detected. It is not a precautionary medicine. Consumers can help encourage farmers to stop abusing antibiotics by seeking foods that do not support this practice.
Today, there are too many products on store shelves with artificial or chemical ingredients like nitrites, phosphates, dies, extracts, or bulkers and fillers derived from soy or wheat. Many people, especially young children, are allergic to these additives and preservatives causing mental and physical health problems. Food intolerances are related to the weakening of the immune system. When the weaknesses become chronic, that is when an allergy may develop. Consumers can help make changes in our food industry by seeking out foods at stores that are clean and free of these additives.
At MCLEAN our ultimate goal is to go 100% organic. This is a challenging task that requires commitment from farmers to industry, but ultimately it's the consumer that will make the choice.
