Garth Mclean

In 1992, Garth joined Lilydale as the BC Sales Manager/Value-Added Division. Working in collaboration with a food scientist and certified sausage maker, Garth spearheaded the product development for over 20 deli and food service products and was instrumental in developing sales regions throughout Western Canada.

Garth later applied his sales and business development experience to the natural food industry, and soon realized the potential in contracting his skills to other markets.

In 2000, Garth moved into the mushroom industry as a sales and marketing consultant and over the course of the next 5 years developed key relationships with growers, retailers, wholesalers, and shippers throughout Western Canada and Western US.

Today, Garth is mostly known for his success in growing a small family-owned BC mushroom farm into one of Western Canada’s and Western U.S.’s largest producers of conventional, specialty and organic mushrooms. Through Garth’s initiative, the British Columbia mushroom industry readily exports to markets in the US Northwest.

Garth was also instrumental in developing and launching a number of value-added mushroom products.

In 2006, Garth’s sons Justin and Jerod Mclean joined Mclean Organic Foods in the areas of sales and production. Collectively, the three Mcleans oversee all aspects of sales, manufacturing and distribution.

Garth also continues to consult in the British Columbia mushroom industry with a focus on organic products and continues to explore innovative ideas for business growth.
